RE: Camping trip cut short

I never heard of a autoformer. What does it do? You make a good argument for installing a HUGHES or FRANKS autoformer. Now:this would not solve the problem.. But it would make it "Somebody else's problem" instead of yours.

RE: Camping trip cut short

I was on the south side. Lot 76. Sounds like you were on the south side. We camped there a few monts ago the south side was maybe 25% ov capacity and line voltage was about 106. I told DW we will surely not come here in the summer when everyone is running the A/C and the park is full. I took a ride to the north side with my digital meter and the voltage was much better there.

Camping trip cut short

We left home on Thursday evening with our tt headed to Chicot State Park in Ville Platte, LA. This would be our first year anniversary with our tt having spent our 1st night in Chicot on Memorial Day weekend 1 year ago. The park was fairly empty when we arrived but we knew by Saturday that would change. We enjoyed the peace and quite on Friday even though the temperture was about 93. Everything was going well and we noticed the park starting to fill up. We had one of the more secluded spots with no other sites near us. We actually thought we were fortunate to have this site UNTIL the campground filled up on Saturday. It seems that we were on the end of electric service and on Saturday evening during the hottest part of the day the a/c unit in the tt tripped the inside breaker. I'm definitely not an electrician (don't even know how to spell it) but I looked at the plug in meter that I have plugged inside the wall plug and noticed the volts was near 104. I flipped the breaker back on and the a/c came back on but the meter dropped to 100. It tripped the breaker shortly after and I cut the a/c off. I reported the problem and the park ranger came out and check the electric box outside with his meter and it was 106 volts. He said that with so many campers that it was nothing he could do to help and that he was sorry but maybe later that evening it would pick back up. Around 8:30 that night it was still at 106 volts inside so we decided not to try to run the a/c and damage it. (It was still 85 degrees outside) Now most would say "sweat it out". I thought about that BUT my wife is somewhat new to camping as am I and the kids, and I didn't want this to ruin future camping trips so we decided to drive home (120 miles) and I would return the next day to pack up and bring the camper home even though we were booked thru Monday. I think we made a wise choice and I hope we did no damage to the a/c or anything else.

RE: Chevy 2500HD (gasoline) and t/t towing question please

I have a '04 Chevy 2500HD CC 2x4 with the 6.0, 4.10. I tow over 9000# probably close to 10,000 with no problem. Like others have said, you will notice on steep terrain that it slows down but don't feel bad about running at high rpms. The 6.0 can take it and makes its hp at high rpms. Enjoy your new truck.

Camping over the Easter holiday

We are planning to camp over the Easter holiday, leaving on Thursday and coming home on Monday. We do plan on driving back home on Easter Sunday to be with the relatives and going back to the campground to spend the night. My question is what Easter decoration, if any, do you put out around your camping spot? When camping last year during Halloween we noticed almost everyone had decorated and had candy for the kids that were out trick or treating. We felt so bad that we didn't have decorations but luckily had candy to hand out. We don't want to be caught without again. Please share your ideas. Randy

RE: Experience w/Salem by Forest River

We purchased ours this past year. (07) No problems so far and love the layout. Have only been out about six or seven times, mostly 3-4 day long weekends. We plan on trying to wear it out this year.:W

RE: RV sink faucets--why are they plastic?

Do you really think that they could find a faucet with a finish that everyone would like? They probably thinking,"let's put plastic faucets in b/c they are just going to change them out anyway". If we couldn't modify our rv's would we really want to buy it? lol

RE: Louisiana this weekend?

We stayed this past weekend at Fairview/Riverside State Park in Madisonville, LA. Very nice, clean park on the Tchefuncte River. Nice cozy town nearby. We had a great stay.

RE: Satellite connection inside tt

Thanks. I will give it a try. I also thought about trying to hook the sat cable into the cable input on the outside of the tt. It has two inputs, one for sat. tv and the other for cable tv. Maybe the cable tv runs to the other locations. I guess I might have to plug and play to find out. Thanks again. JUST TAKE THE OUTPUT OF THE SATELLITE AND GO TO A SPLITTER. ONE SIDE WILL GO TO THE TV, AND THE OTHER HOOK TO THE OUT PUT JACK OF THE TV BOOSTER, THIS WILL CARRY THE SIGNAL TO ALL OTHER HOOK UPS. (MAKE SURE TV BOOSTER IS TURNED OFF OR IT WON'T WORK)

RE: 9500lbs TT

I have a 07 Salem LA 312BHBS with a gross of near 11,000 lbs. and dry weight of 7400 lbs. I haven't weighted it loaded but would imagine it to be close to 9200 lbs. My TV is an 04 Chevy 2500HD CC with a 6.0 and 4.10 rearend. It handles the trailer well but definitely knows it's back there. I haven't taken it in the mountains and most run to state CG within 250 miles from home. It works for us and I don't plan on buying anything new anytimes soon. Randy

Satellite connection inside tt

If I connect my satellite cable to the satellite connection at the rear of the tt does it split and provide service to all three connections inside the trailer? In the center (living rm) of the trailer it has a satellite connection next to the roof antenna connection. This is where I connection my satellite box to. I guess my question is there a way to get satellite signal to the other two location in the trailer? Any info is greatly appreciated!! Randy

RE: Dixie RV

We purchased from Dixie RV this past spring. They came off the price some but also add several things onto the tt that I wanted. It was nice to have CW next door to buy all the (needy) stuff. I haven't needed the service department yet but I think they have a good reputation. Only problem I had with Dixie was getting them to return a phone call. It was hard for me to believe that they stay so busy that they couldn't return my calls. It was aggravating but I told them and got it off my chest. lol Good luck.
